Our trip to the Grand Canyon started off with what was supposed to be a 17 mile overnight hike to the Anasazi ruins at Keet Seel. However, due to a wrong turn that we will forever blame on a map that looks like it was drawn on an etch-a-sketch (see the pictures inside), our hike turned into a 25 mile trek across the Navajo Nation. Nevertheless, we managed to camp at a beautiful isolated spot in Diwozhiibiiko Canyon after Shantall let some cows grazing in the canyon hold us hostage because she refused to pass them. The next day we made it out on time and continued our trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyonwhich is easily one of the most beautiful natural wonders we have ever seen. Despite the mayhem, it ended up being a phenomenal trip! 8-26 to 8-28, 2006.
